Ever wonder why Olympic Athletes or top-level CEO’s have coaches? These are people at the top of their games. They are the top 0.1% achieving enormous success.
Wouldn’t you think that people at the top of their game would know exactly what they need to do to stay at the top of their game?
You would think so, but it’s just not the case. They hire coaches for a number of reasons.
GUIDANCE
A coach is able to step back and create an action plan because he or she isn’t mixed up in the day to day operations of the athlete.
By hiring a coach, the athlete or CEO can be 100% focused on taking action and following through and doesn’t have to be worried about trying to figure out a plan as well.
For many people, it’s hard to see the forest amongst the trees. Especially a forest you have never been to before.
A coach provides a bird’s eye view of the forest and can give you guidance because the coach doesn’t have to live in the trees like you. The coach can use his airplane to see exactly where you need to go and the path you need to get there.
You can then focus on walking the path and taking care of your most valuable resource…you.
EXPERTISE
Many coaches have been through the forest many times with different people. They know where the cliffs are and they know where the thorn bushes are. Each time they take someone through, he or she gets better at navigating the client.
As a client, you get the expertise of a forest master without having to go through the forest yourself hundreds of times.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Humans have this uncanny ability to talk themselves out of almost anything if they are alone. Our brains are an amazing structure that is pretty convincing at times.
The funny thing is if we add one more person to the mix and give the person some accountability, all of a sudden humans have a greater tendency to actually do what they set out to do.
They can’t talk themselves out of it as quickly because someone else is counting on them.
This is why so many behavior change apps struggle because there isn’t actually a human behind the app wanting you to be successful. It’s not genuinely invested in your success.
Humans are social creatures. Left alone, and up to our own devices, we can talk ourselves out of anything and everything.
REVIEW
Having a coach is the biggest step towards changing your behavior and health. Coaches have experience in the areas you’re struggling with.
They can give you an unbiased view of how to get from where you are to where you want to be.
They’ve helped others, let them help you be successful.
Get an accountability partner and your success goes through the roof.
